What is home automation system and why would I want this?  

Home Automation systems are what makes our lives easier and safer in a lot of ways. Some call them "smart homes" and for good reason!  For example, how nice would it be to have a series of lights turning on and illuminating a path or area when arriving home?  Or how about a reminder that lights were left on or the security system was left unarmed after leaving the premises?  How about something as simple as a notification alerting that children were home from school or that your significant other arrived home safe?  Take that a step further and create a notification alerting when employees arrive at the office in the morning or perhaps when they leave for the evening!    

Night, morning or day scenes can also be utilized in a space as well.  For example, pressing a "night scene" button on a remote or touchpad can instruct the system to lock all doors, turn off all lights, armed the security system and turn off TV's and other audio equipment!    

For a businesses, it can ensure all doors are locked and secured, thermostats are automatically set to their lowest setting, close automated blinds and lights can be turned off.  Or vice versa, allowing a series of lights to turn on after employees leave for the evening, such as parking garage or outdoor lighting.
