What is Access Control?   

Access Control systems (card access) give the user the ability to control access into a door, gate, or any other device that has the locking potential; this can allow users the ability to enter or deny access to a premise. 

Mostly installed in businesses, these systems allow employers to track personnel , by the card that is programmed for that particular user. The person is tracked on items such as which doors or entry points that can be accessed (or opened) as well as times that the user can gain access to said doors.  

Locking mechanisms for doors can be electric strike systems or magnetic locks and most doors on the market today can be retrofitted to fit one or both of these style of locks.  

Access cards can be deactivated on the fly in case of an employee or person is no longer wanted on the premises, or if a card is lost or stolen. This option alone saves from having to call a lock smith to change locks or make new keys.  After all let's face it, keys are not the most efficient method to secure access to a facility these days.  

With our "My Door View" integration, we can even setup touch screen calls boxes a facility to allow virtual calling to a specific users, apartment/condo or office personnel.  We can also integrate video surveillance into an access control system, that when someone scans a card a video can be uploaded to the access control system to capture the event.  We can also pull demographic data from most management software into our access control system to make it easier to enter user demographics. 

These systems are secure and reliable and when used with an automation system the possibilities are endless.  For example when a specific card is swiped, lights can be turned on/off, thermostats can be controlled, or an alarm system be disarmed or armed. Better yet, these systems can be linked together for sites that have multiple locations.
